What data moves and how

Celigo's Stripe connector handles webhook reception and Stripe REST API calls. Entech configures the field mapping, transformation logic, and NetSuite-specific record creation for your chart of accounts and subsidiary structure.

Charge в†’ Invoice match
When a Stripe charge succeeds, Celigo looks up the matching NetSuite invoice by Stripe PaymentIntent ID (stored as a custom field on the invoice). If found, the invoice is marked Paid and a Payment record is created. If no matching invoice exists (e.g., direct charges not tied to a prior invoice), a Cash Sale is created with the charge details and customer lookup by Stripe Customer ID.
Payout reconciliation
Stripe batches charges minus processing fees into a single bank payout. Celigo listens for the Stripe 'payout.paid' webhook, fetches the full balance transaction list for that payout, and creates a NetSuite Bank Deposit with each contributing charge as a separate line item. The Stripe fee total appears as a separate Bank Charge line. The net deposit amount matches your bank statement exactly.
Refund в†’ Credit Memo
Stripe refund events trigger a Credit Memo in NetSuite linked to the original invoice. Partial refunds create a Credit Memo for the refunded amount only. The Credit Memo is posted to the same period as the original charge where possible, or to the current open period if the original period is closed — configurable per your accounting policy.
Customer sync
Stripe customers sync to NetSuite customers using email as the primary match key. On each charge, Celigo checks whether a NetSuite customer already exists with the Stripe Customer ID (stored as a custom field) or matching email. If found, the record is updated; if not, a new customer is created. Billing address, phone, and name sync from Stripe metadata where present.
What makes this hard

The parts that break DIY implementations

A basic Stripe-to-NetSuite sync is straightforward. These are the cases that require custom scripting, NetSuite accounting knowledge, and experience with Stripe's edge cases.

Posting period management
NetSuite closes accounting periods, which means a charge processed in late December may not be postable to December if the period has already closed by the time your batch runs. Entech configures explicit posting period logic — either posting to the charge date where the period is still open, or to the next open period with a memo explaining the original charge date. Without this, records simply fail to create and stack up in Celigo's error queue.

Multi-currency handling
Stripe supports 135+ currencies. NetSuite requires each currency to be explicitly enabled in the system and assigned to customer records. A USD-only NetSuite trying to receive a EUR charge from Stripe will fail without currency configuration. Entech audits your active Stripe currencies against NetSuite's enabled currencies at project kickoff and configures the exchange rate source (NetSuite's daily rate table or a fixed rate) for each active currency pair.

Subscription revenue recognition (SaaS)
SaaS businesses using Stripe Billing need Stripe Subscription events mapped to NetSuite's Advanced Revenue Management (ARM) module for ASC 606 compliance. This means creating Revenue Arrangements from Stripe subscription data, assigning revenue recognition rules per product line, and handling mid-period upgrades/downgrades that trigger Revenue Arrangement modifications. This is the most complex part of the integration and typically requires 2–4 additional weeks compared to a charge-only sync.

Idempotency under webhook retries
Stripe retries webhook delivery if your endpoint does not respond with 2xx within 30 seconds. If Celigo processes a charge but the response is slow, Stripe may deliver the same event twice. Without idempotency logic (checking whether a NetSuite record with this PaymentIntent ID already exists before creating a new one), you get duplicate invoices and duplicate bank deposit lines. Entech builds the check into every Celigo flow that handles Stripe events.

About historical data
Stripe charges before go-live date will not automatically appear in NetSuite unless you run a historical backfill. Entech plans the backfill scope during discovery — typically the open invoicing period plus enough historical transactions to reconcile open bank statements. We use Celigo's batch processing to pull Stripe charges in chronological order and create the corresponding NetSuite records without overwhelming either system's API rate limits.
