Shopify + n8n

n8n Shopify Integration Service

We connect Shopify to your ERP, 3PL, CRM, and reporting stack using n8n — order sync, inventory automation, fulfilment workflows, and customer data pipelines. Entech has processed 2M+ daily Shopify transactions in production via n8n.

What we automate

Common n8n Shopify workflows we build and deliver

Every workflow includes error handling, retry logic, alerting, and full documentation. We scope, build, test, and hand off — or stay on for ongoing managed support.

Order processing & routing

Receive Shopify order webhooks in n8n and route orders to ERP, 3PL, fulfilment centres, or custom order management systems in real time. Handle cancellations, edits, and refunds with the same workflow.

Inventory sync

Push Shopify inventory levels to connected systems — NetSuite, warehouse platforms, marketplaces — and pull updates back. Prevent oversells across channels and automate reorder point alerts.

Customer data management

Sync Shopify customers to CRM, loyalty platforms, and email tools. Trigger onboarding sequences, update lifecycle stages, and push purchase history to HubSpot or Salesforce automatically.

Fulfilment & tracking automation

Connect Shopify to 3PL and carrier APIs. Push orders to ShipBob, ShipStation, or custom warehouse systems and pull tracking numbers back to Shopify to trigger customer notifications automatically.

Abandoned cart & recovery workflows

Trigger n8n workflows from Shopify abandoned checkout events. Enrich with customer data, push to email or SMS tools, and log recovery outcomes back to CRM — all without Shopify's built-in limitations.

Reporting & analytics pipelines

Extract Shopify order, product, and customer data on a schedule and push to Google Sheets, BigQuery, or BI tools. Sales reports, inventory turnover, and customer cohorts — without manual exports.

Technical approach

How we connect Shopify to n8n

n8n has an official Shopify node covering orders, products, customers, inventory, and fulfilments via the Shopify REST API. For high-volume and complex queries, we use Shopify's GraphQL Admin API — the same API powering all modern Shopify app development and the direction Shopify is moving for all integrations.

Entech has led a Shopify REST-to-GraphQL migration for a client processing 2M+ daily transactions via n8n — with zero downtime. We know the Shopify API's edge cases, rate limits, and pagination patterns, and we build around them from the start rather than discovering them in production.

1

Shopify webhooks for real-time triggers

Shopify fires webhooks on store events — order created, fulfilment updated, inventory adjusted, customer created. We configure n8n's webhook trigger to receive and process these in real time.

2

REST API & GraphQL for record operations

Read and write orders, products, customers, inventory levels, and metafields via REST or GraphQL. We use GraphQL for complex queries and bulk operations where REST's per-resource model is inefficient.

3

Bulk operations for large datasets

Shopify's GraphQL Bulk Operations API handles full catalogue exports, historical order extracts, and large inventory syncs without hitting rate limits — essential for stores with large SKU counts.

4

Rate limit handling & retry logic

Every Shopify workflow we build includes Shopify's leaky bucket rate limiter logic — requests are paced and retried automatically so workflows don't fail under volume.

Shopify connections we build most often with n8n

These are the most common project requests. If your stack isn't listed, reach out — if both systems have APIs, n8n can connect them.

Shopify ↔ NetSuite

Order-to-Sales Order, inventory sync, fulfilment callbacks, and tracking number push-back. The most common Shopify integration we deliver — at 2M+ daily transaction volume.

Shopify ↔ HubSpot

Customer sync, purchase-based lifecycle stage updates, post-purchase email sequences triggered from Shopify order events.

Shopify ↔ 3PL / ShipBob

Order routing to warehouse, fulfilment confirmation, tracking number return, and inventory reconciliation syncs.

Shopify ↔ Salesforce

Customer account sync, order history surfaced in Salesforce, ecommerce purchase data linked to CRM contacts and opportunities.

Shopify ↔ Google Sheets / BigQuery

Scheduled order and product data extracts for sales reporting, inventory analytics, and customer cohort analysis without manual CSV exports.

Shopify ↔ Slack

New order notifications, low inventory alerts, failed payment flags, and fulfilment confirmations pushed to the right Slack channel automatically.

n8n vs Shopify Flow

When does n8n make sense alongside Shopify?

Shopify Flow handles in-store automation well — tagging customers, sending internal alerts, updating metafields, applying discounts. If your automation stays inside Shopify, Flow is the right tool.

n8n is the right layer when your workflow needs to leave Shopify: routing orders to a 3PL, syncing inventory to NetSuite, pushing customer data to HubSpot, or extracting data to a warehouse. n8n handles arbitrary API calls, complex multi-step logic, and cross-system coordination that Shopify Flow is not designed for. See our ecommerce automation service page for broader context.

Common questions

n8n Shopify integration — what to know

Does n8n have a Shopify node?

Yes. n8n has an official Shopify node with access to orders, products, customers, inventory, and fulfilments via the Shopify REST API. For high-volume and complex queries, we use Shopify's GraphQL Admin API directly via n8n's HTTP Request node.

What can n8n do with Shopify that Shopify Flow can't?

Shopify Flow handles in-store automation but can't call external systems. n8n connects Shopify to any API — NetSuite, 3PLs, CRM platforms, data warehouses — and handles multi-step logic across multiple systems in a single workflow. Entech has processed 2M+ daily Shopify transactions through n8n in production.

How do you trigger n8n from a Shopify event?

Shopify fires webhooks on store events — order created, fulfilment updated, inventory adjusted, customer created. We configure n8n's webhook trigger to receive these events and build the downstream logic from there. For scheduled operations, n8n's schedule trigger handles batch syncs and reporting extracts.

Can n8n sync Shopify orders to NetSuite?

Yes. Shopify-to-NetSuite order sync is the most common project we deliver — creating Sales Orders in NetSuite from Shopify order webhooks, syncing fulfilment status and tracking numbers back to Shopify, and reconciling inventory between both systems. We have delivered this at 2M+ daily transaction volume in production.

How long does an n8n Shopify integration take?

Simple one-directional workflows take 1–2 weeks. Full order-to-ERP pipelines with inventory sync, fulfilment callbacks, and error handling take 3–6 weeks. We scope every project before committing to a timeline.

Do you maintain Shopify n8n workflows after go-live?

Yes. Shopify's API is actively evolving — the REST-to-GraphQL migration is ongoing, and API version deprecations require workflow updates. We offer post-launch monitoring, error resolution, and updates as Shopify and connected systems change.
